PROGRAMME

About the course

This 3-day course focuses on precise bladesmithing and a flawless finish. It is the ideal follow-up for graduates of our 2-day Damascus course who have already forged their own Damascus bar. If you have not taken our forging course, don’t worry – we will provide our own high-quality, ready-made Damascus steel at no extra cost.

What awaits you

  • Working Damascus bar steel and preparing the material
  • Cutting out and rough-grinding the knife shape
  • Grinding the edge
  • Heat treatment and hardening for optimal hardness
  • Final grinding and fine-tuning of the shape
  • Etching the blade to reveal its unique Damascus pattern
  • Fitting the handle and finishing the knife
  • Making a sheath tailored to your knife
  • Final sharpening to a top-level edge

The Damascus knife course is for those who want to take their skills to the next level and create a knife with a unique steel pattern. The result is a one-of-a-kind piece that is as functional as it is beautiful.

Who is it for

The ideal follow-up to our Damascus Steel course – you work your own forged bar. If you have not taken the forging course, no problem: we provide our ready-made Damascus at the same price.

Knife-making experience helps but is not required – you have three days and a bladesmith at your side for the precise work with Damascus.

What to bring

We lend you the safety gear. Please bring:

  • sturdy closed shoes
  • work clothes of cotton or wool – synthetics melt from sparks
  • a hair tie if you have long hair
  • and the will to work with your hands
