What people say about us

  • We did a 5 day course during which we made ourselves knives from scratch. Patrik is a great teacher and even better bladesmith. I highly recommend his services if you want him to make you a knife or if you want to learn to do it yourself.

  • Taking a 2-day knife making course at the Nidevallir blacksmith shop was an incredible experience for me. Patrik is not only an excellent blacksmith, but also a patient and professional person who can convey his experience in a way that makes you really enjoy the whole process. He doesn't keep any secrets, on the contrary, he teaches you the right knife making techniques, explains everything to you and makes sure you don't make a mistake.

During the course, I made a very demanding "Fairbairn-Sykes" dagger with a karambit eye, which was a technically complicated job and I appreciate Patrik's help, precision and willingness to pay attention to every detail even more. From the first piece of steel to the final grinding, I felt like I was part of a real craft.

The atmosphere in the workshop was perfect, everything was professionally prepared and at the same time very friendly. I left not only with a handmade knife, but also with enormous respect for the blacksmith's craft.

If anyone is thinking about a knife making course, I can recommend Nidevallir with all ten.

And finally, I am already looking forward to the 5 day Damascus steel course where I will make a wakizashi under the supervision of Patrik “Hatrori Hanza”

  • I had been toying with the idea of trying my hand at knife making for a long time.

When I found the opportunity to take a two-day course in Bratislava, I didn't hesitate and signed up for it. The course exceeded my expectations and at the end I took home a beautiful handmade knife with a leather sheath and an experience I will never forget.

The atmosphere in the workshop was very pleasant. I appreciate the style of instruction, where Patrik first showed us the individual steps step by step on his knife that he was making. We then applied these to making our knives, but whenever something needed to be explained or helped with something, he was always nearby.

I really appreciate the openness to ideas and the possibility of creating your own design for the blade and handle of the knife.

And a message for women, if you are hesitating about the course, either because it is a "male" hobby or because it might be too demanding. The course is structured in such a way that even a complete beginner like me, who had never even worked with the various tools used in the workshop, was able to create and take home their own knife.

I will definitely consider taking the 5-day course that the workshop offers in the future.

  • So I took a course on making a Damascus knife, I met two really cool guys, Michal who was also on the course and Patrik who led us through the course. It was a great week where we learned a lot. Pat explained everything to us, helped and guided us through the entire knife making process from the forging itself to the final grinding and sewing of the leather sheath. It was a great week. I highly recommend it to people who want to create something nice and useful. We will definitely not see Patrik for the last time 💪. A few more photos😏
